Control of pH is one of the most important aspects of hydroponic garden maintenance. pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline your nutrient solution is. pH scale is 0 (acidic) to 14 (alkaline), with 7.0 being absolutely neutral. Plants cannot ingest all nutrients if the pH of the nutrient solution is lower than 5.8 or above 6.5. Check your pH every few days and make the necessary adjustments right away.

It's easy to test your nutrient solution's strength using this equipment. Monitor your nutrient solution the way commercial growers do. Eliminate guesswork by knowing the TDS (total dissolved solids) in parts per million (ppm), or EC (electrical conductivity) in microsiemens of your nutrient solution. Ideal range for most gardens is 1000 to 1400 ppm.

Timers are used to automatically turn on and off your lighting systems. Indoor plants require 12 to 18 hours of light a day; they also require a period of complete darkness. High intensity lighting requires a grounded timer for safety. There are two main ways to introduce CO2 to your grow room a CO2 enrichment system that distributes CO2 from a rented tank (best for smaller grow rooms), and a CO2 generator, which actually burns propane to create CO2 best for larger grow rooms and greenhouses.

Ozium deodorizers
Aerosol spray that destroys odors, helps reduce bacteria, smoke, etc. Non toxic. Two formats:
20 g. manual sprayer. Spray 4 seconds for 10' X 10' space.
225 g. can for use with Time Mist dispenser.

Time mist dispenser
Automatically spray a standard dose of Ozium deodorizer or Guard Mist insecticide, every 15 minutes. Place dispenser about 2 m. above floor. 225 g. can last about 30 days. Requires two "D" cell batteries.

It's easier to prevent insect infestations than to get rid of bugs later. Try and keep your grow room perfectly clean (hospital-like) and don't let it get too humid. Wash your hands and take off your shoes before entering. Don't let house pets into your growing area.
